Cogito Food & Beverage - Martyn Atack
Martyn is a qualified food technologist and is Cogito's founder and Technical Director. In his early career, Martyn developed food products and processes for companies such as EasiYo Products Ltd, Tip Top Ice Cream Company and Kapiti Cheese. He has two CHH Food Awards, including a Supreme Award, to his credit.

Since founding his own, independent consultancy 19 years ago, Martyn has led development for his clients across a wide range of food and beverage applications. 

Martyn brings a special blend of skills to his work. He combines a high level of technical expertise, with his problem- solving mindset and, importantly, the lateral thinking and creativity that lie behind great new products. Clients value his ability to explain the technical issues and trade offs that occur throughout the development process in simple, everyday language.

Professional Experience

  • 20 years as an independent consultant, leading product development across a wide range of food and beverage applications, with associated process development, food safety systems and labelling.
  • Technical Manager at EasiYo Products Ltd. Specification development, product & process development, quality systems and hazard analysis. Products included yoghurt dry mixes, toppings, sugar free sweeteners, dry blend yoghurt add-ins.
  • Senior Research & Development Technologist at Tip Top Ice Cream Co. Responsible for the development of Moritz and Paradiso ice cream novelties, ripples and coatings.
  • Technical Officer & Production Management at Kapiti Cheese, Paraparaumu. Responsibility for ice cream, specialty cream and value-added cheese production.
